Portsmouth NH Air Show 8/27/10

Well here is something that I have never photographed before! I was out and about in the Portsmouth NH downtown area in the morning working on some HDR photography, when I noticed an aircraft in the sky praticing for the weekend airshow. I decided to investigate over by the airport and found 200 pepole camped out at the front gate watching the planes. I spoke to very nice photographer from Gilford NH area, Karen Bobotas ( www.karenbobotas.com ) she told me they were doing a complete run of the show. Needless to say I went back to the truck for the rest of my gear and spent the day photographing the show! What a great experience and a real test of my photography skills. I shot most of the photos around 1/1600 on Sutter Priority using an ISO of 400 which was giving me about F 8.0 to F 10. I also shot a brief video piece again with the Kodak Playsport which is posted on my YouTube Channel.

Westford Ma 3rd Alarm+ 8/18/10

Westford Ma firefighters responded to a 3rd Alarm fire along with numerous special calls at a mostly vacant building at 197 Littleton Rd. in the early morning hours on August 18, 2010. The fire was in a 2 story wood frame commercial buinding about 35 X 150. The only reported occupant was Jon Golnick, whose campaign headquarters was located in the building. Upon my arrival exterior operation was underway with numerous handlines and deck guns operating.

Lawrence Ma 4th Alarm 8/8/10

Lawrence Ma firefighters were run ragged on Sunday August 8, 2010 responding to two major fires at the vacant Merrimack Paper Mill at 6 South Canal St. The second fire around 15:30 pm was reported by a Lawrence Engine Company who stated they could see heavy smoke coming from the complex again. The box was sent and shortly 4 Alarms worth of comapnies were back at the mill building fighting a fire in a different section of the complex.

Lawrence Ma firefighters were run ragged on Sunday August 8, 2010 responding to to two major fires at the vacant Merrimack Paper Mill at 6 South Canal St. The first fire around 9:30am was reported by Lawrence Engine 5 as they saw smoke coming from the mill complex while returning to quarters from previous run. 3 Alarms were transmitted soon after the arrival of the first due companies. Mutual aid from Dracut, Haverhill, Andover, North Andover, Middleton sent Engine Companies to the fire. Ladder Companies from Lowell, Salem NH and Amesbury also responded. Crews from Methuen, North Reading, Danvers and Ipswich were sent into the city to cover the stations.

Chelsea Ma 2nd Alarm 08/01/10

Covered a 2nd Alarm Fire in Chelsea Ma at 79 Maverick St. Box -172. The fire was in an occupied 2 story flat 25X60 with heavy fire on floor two and into the cockloft. Upon my arrival most of the fire was knocked down so I shot firefighter faces.

Swampscott Ma 4th Alarm Fire in HDR

Swampscott Ma firefighters responded to a 4 Alarm house fire at 108 Burril St on July 23, 2010. Companies had heavy fire on all floors and through the roof of a large 2 1/2 story wood frame house. Mutual aid from Salem, Revere, Lynnfield, Lynn, Marblehead, Peabody and Nahant responded to assist in knocking down the fire. These images were processed in High Dynamic Range fashion using Lightroom and Photomatix Pro software.

Boston Ma 2nd Alarm 7/19/10

Boston starts off another summer week with a morning 2 alarm fire. This job was at 333 West First St. the Loi Seafood Inc. Box – 7161. BPD reported they had smoke coming from the building and requested Boston fire. Upon arrival of Ladder Company 18 a 2nd alarm was transmitted by Capt. Dillon, who reported fire and smoke shwoing from a 1 story 75 X 150 metal clad warehouse. In true Boston fashion the fire was quickly brought under control due to the outstanding work of the members. As I was only 6 minutes from the box when it was struck (which never happens for me!) upon my arrival most of the heavy fire was knocked down.
