On this episode of Fireground Action Photography we’re joined by our good friends Timothy Tonge, Ted Pendergast and Rick Nohl. We convene for a discussion on Adobe Lightroom, a wonderful and user-friendly photo management and editing program that will improve any photographer’s workflow. Adobe Lightroom 3 in currently in beta so we hope to speak more on that when we return to the topic in a month or two. We go under the hood in this series and get kinda techie. Don’t let this scare away the new user! It’s a wonderful program (which we’re all still learning to use). We all use and recommend a great reference book called “Lightroom 2 for Digital Photographers” by Scott Kelby. Scott is deeply involved with the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP) and his workshops are also worth checking out. Scott Bourne also discusses the topic frequently on his Photofocus website. Check out iTunes or your favorite podcatcher for some useful and informative audio and video podcasts on Lightroom. Some recommended podcasts are “Adobe Photoshop Lightroom”, “Lightroom for Digital Photographers”, “Welcome to Lightroom “2 and “Photoshop Killer Tips”.

Join our “Fireground” Flickr community, upload your images to the comment/critique forum and join in any of the ongoing conversations. Use the forum to post your own Lightroom-related comments or questions and we’ll be sure to address them on Part 2 of our Lightroom Roundtable series.

As always, you can find out more about your hosts Craig Durling and Ross A. Benson by visiting their websites.

Danfung has been producing incredible work from Afghanistan where he works as an embedded photojournalist. His filming is both editorially and visually compelling – especially given the extreme conditions under which he works. He is currently working on his own documentary, “Battle for Hearts and Minds”, as well as having his footage featured on PBS Frontline. This is his first post about his technique for www.dslrnewsshooter.com
