Melrose Ma firefighters responded to a 2nd Alarm house fire at 25 Natalie Ave. on June 6, 2010 Companies battled heavy rain & lightning while operating at this fire.

This video was shot using the Kodak Playsport HD pocket camera. This unit will shot in 1080HD or 720HD, but the great plus for this camera is it’s waterproof up to 10′. This was the first spot new event I shot using this camera and it worked out really nice, due to the heavy rain. The one slight downfall I have found so far with this camera is the audio quality can be a bit tough.

A monumental achievement Brothers On Holy Ground is the only documentary in existence made by a FDNY fireman and it spans the time period before, during and after 9-11. Fate called upon NY fireman Mike Lennon of Engine Co. 15 to make a documentary about his fellow NY firefighters before Sept. 2001. After 9-11, Mike continued filming. Featuring interviews with a fireman that perished on 9-11 as well as fellow survivors and family members during and after 9-11. The film also includes unique footage from ground zero. This historic film about the most tragic event of our times will leave no one untouched.

These days, with so many short sighted budgets cuts being done, it is scary to think that this kind of event absolutely could happen again-anywhere-and the fire/rescue/EMS response capabilities in so many areas may be woefully inadequate. – FirefighterCloseCalls.com

It is an honor to post a link to this documentary on my media blog. I will never forget 9/11. I could only hope to document the outstanding work by members from FDNY and fellow firefighters across this nation as Mike Lennon has in his piece.

Hampton NH 5th Alarm Fire 2/26/10

Hampton NH 5th Alarm Fire – February 26, 2010 Surf Hotel 275 Ocean Blvd

Hampton NH Firefighters were joined by fellow firefighters from Massachusetts and Maine to battle a fast moving 5 Alarm fire that started at the Surf Hotel at 275 Ocean Boulevard. The initial alarm was transmitted by a Hampton NH Engine Company who found heavy fire in the first floor of the hotel while investigating storm damagein the area. The fire spread rapidly due to extremely strong winds pounding the shoreline from a coastal storm that was moving through the area. The fire consumed an entire city block of buildings, which consisted of the 3 story Surf Hotel an Arcade and a 2 story block of stores. Crews were able to keep the flames from spreading into a nearby neighborhood that was situated to the rear of the city block. It was estimated that 160 firefighters responded to the scene to fight the blaze. There were no injuries reported and the fire was brought under control around 4:00am.

Malden 2nd Alarm 1 Woodland St. Box-58

Malden Mass firefighters responded to a 2nd alarm house fire at 1 Woodland St. on December 17, 2009. Companies were hampered fighting the balze due to outside tempetures of 11 degrees. Two occupants and one firefighter were transported to are hospitals with minor injuries.
