Boston MA 7 Alarm Fire 329 Chelsea St. 4/1/12
Boston firefighters responded to a fast moving fire at 329 Chelsea St. in the East Boston section of the city Saturday afternoon April 1, 2012. Upon arrival 1st due companies had heavy overlapping fire from the 3rd floor windows of a large six family flat top brick apartment building. The 2nd & 3rd Alarms were struck almost on arrival by the arriving companies.
I responded to the fire from the North Reading area with about a 17 minute ride into the job. As always in any East Boston fire your biggest problem as a photographer is finding a place to park your truck. I parked in the first spot I found and walked into the job which was a few blocks down Chelsea St. The access into the job was a bit difficult due to large crowd of spectators that had gathered in the streets. The Boston Police were doing a good job of securing the fireground from civilians and photographers, which of course makes my job a bit harder. I was able to make some nice head shots of the firefighters working as well as a few shots when the front windows on the 3rd floor lit up.
